Michael Wade (of Expundit) posts his career manifesto with Hugh at gapingvoid.  osme tough stuff, and not all of it practical (good advice to get out of the madhouse, but what if you don’t have a handy ladder?)  That said, pretty relevant.  You may be a top-coder with impeccible technical skills, but if I’m interviewing you versus somebody who’s even a tad lighter, and you’re a jerk while they’re not, well, guess who I want to see every day?  As long as it’s clear you can learn, we can teach you the technical stuff.  What’s impossible is to change your personality.  Learn to play nice, and see how many more teams you wind up on.
